What are Cataracts?
A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear human lens. The human lens sits behind the iris, the colored part of the eye. The lens helps to focus light or images on the retina, which is located in the back of the eye. When the lens is clear, it produces a sharp image on the retina. If the lens becomes clouded, light is absorbed or scattered, causing images that are fuzzy or blurry. The development of a cataract is often times a natural part of the aging process.
